New Perspectives: Japan 2008-2009

Student cost to participate in New Perspectives: Japan is $3,550.00 plus an airline surcharge fee of $245 (subject to change based on airport location).

Your New Perspectives: Japan experience will include the following:

  • Roundtrip air transportation to and from Japan. You will depart from the closest available major airport to your home, and arrive at Narita International Airport in Tokyo. You will leave Japan from Narita International Airport via Itami Airport or Kansai International Airport and return to the same airport from which you departed in the United States.
  • Surface travel to and from lodging sites and airports in Japan.
  • Accommodations centrally located in Tokyo and Kyoto.
  • Breakfast and a 2,000 yen meal stipend for dinner (if participants wish, they may use the 2,000 yen to cover both lunch and dinner.)
  • All train and bus travel expenses as per your group's approved tour itinerary.
  • All entrance fees to special attractions as per your group's approved tour itinerary.
  • Pre-departure study and orientation lessons. These lessons, based on the study theme your school group chooses, will help you and your fellow NP:J participants focus on the areas you most want to learn about.
  • Special presentations on each of the NP:J study themes.
  • Exploration of Tokyo and the Kansai region (which includes Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe).
  • Cultural exploration activities while you are in Japan which are related to your study theme.
  • Homestay with a Japanese family which includes breakfast and dinner.
  • Visits to a Japanese school.
  • Follow-on activities to be done upon your return to the United States. These activities are designed to help you reflect on your experience and articulate your "new perspective" of Japan.
