The
preparation you engage your students in before departing will make
your role as a chaperone less demanding when you are in China. Preparing
your students to behave responsibly and display cultural sensitivity
will be an important process to begin long before you leave for China.
During the homestay portion of your study tour, you and your students
will each stay with a Chinese family and attend the same Chinese middle
or high school. In most cases, you will travel to school with a member
of your host family. In addition to preparing students for cultural
interactions, you will also work with them to customize "Study
Days" that correlate your destinations in China to your group's
chosen study theme.
